Sylvia Plath
I feel honored to have you in this space, and since empathy and transparency are crucial in the therapeutic space, I will share some of who I am here. I did not become an LMFT by accident. I believe I am here now because of my experiences growing up. My childhood and early adulthood provided me with enough experiences to either just survive until life got the best of me or to thrive. I understand what it means to feel trapped and to suffer with a lack of choices, with nowhere to turn but to yourself. I understand what it feels like to be lost, alone, and abandoned by the world and those who should have loved you the most. I know what it feels like to feel like you cannot go on one more minute the way things are. And, I also know how vulnerable it is to need to ask for help and support.
Thanks to certain individuals, especially a few influential women in my life who chose to mentally and emotionally support me, I am now in a privileged position to help others. I can modestly admit that I could not have achieved this on my own. I tried for a while, but I kept getting the same results. These failures led to increased shame and low self-worth. I needed someone outside of myself who could see and believe in me in ways that I didn't trust or know existed. I could not be where I am today without having risked letting myself be symbolically held by others, slowly at first, and eventually wholly.
So, here I am today, continuing to walk the healing path I began in 2005. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English-Creative Writing in 2012. After taking a break in order to raise my son, I re-entered the academic and healing world in 2016 to pursue my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. I quickly decided to pursue a Doctorate in Integrative Studies and Healing Practices in 2019 while achieving my license to become an LMFT. I am writing my dissertation based on the Orphan-symbolically and literally, which I hope to complete in 2025. I enjoy the cliche sunset walks on the beach, good music, the snorts and tail wiggles of my Pink Pug, and the comfort of home. I try to get into other types of Mother Nature regularly because she is my true home. And I continue to practice my spirituality and expand and learn in my healing profession. I feel like it is crucial to know when to rest and when to continue to learn, grow, and expand.
